Tognum to deliver 93 Rail Drive Systems for Bombardier Railcars

The Tognum business unit Engines has been awarded a contract by Bombardier covering the development and manufacture of more than 93 rail drive systems. The Powerpacks traded under Tognum’s brand MTU will be installed in Bombardier´s new type “Class 172” railcars from early 2009 until mid-2010.

Tognum introduces new MTU Automation System for Naval Vessels

Tognum Group will be introducing their new MTU brand automation system Callosum at the Naval Trade Show “Euronaval” (27 - 31 October 2008 in Paris). This system has been developed for military applications in vessels such as corvettes, frigates or governmental vessels.

Tognum to equip German F 125 frigates with propulsion systems

The Tognum Group has been awarded a contract for delivery of diesel gensets and gas turbines for the future F 125 frigates of the German Navy. This means that in addition to the F 122, F 123 and F 124 frigates, the fourth generation of German frigates will also be powered by MTU.

UIC Certification for MTU Rail Engines

The Tognum Group has been awarded UIC certificates 623 and 624 for its MTU 12V, 16V and 20V 4000 R43 rail engines. This makes these engines the first in the world in their performance and exhaust emissions class to gain UIC certification.

Tognum receives order for 130 engines for new Voith loco Gravita 10BB

The Tognum business unit Engines has been awarded a contract for the delivery of 130 diesel engines 8V 4000 R43 by locomotive manufacturer Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik GmbH & Co. KG in Kiel/Germany. The engines with a power output of 1,000 kW (1,360 HP) will be integrated by Voith in their Gravita 10BB shunting locomotives, which will be operated by Deutsche Bahn.

Tognum presents hybrid drive system for trains

At this year’s Innotrans rail exhibition in Berlin (September 23-28, 2008), the Tognum Group will unveil under the MTU brand its prototype of a new hybrid drive system for trains featuring exhaust-gas after treatment. It is based on the so-called PowerPack 6H 1800, an underfloor unit for diesel-powered local trains with a maximum power output of 390 kilowatts.

At the world’s biggest ship trade fair, SMM in Hamburg (September 23-26), MTU will present its further improved Series 4000 engines for work boats. The long-stroke 4000 M63 engine from the “Iron Men” series available with 8, 12 or 16 cylinders has been specially optimized for the requirements of work boats.
